About

Helping organisations navigate responsible and sustainable AI adoption and architecture / tech strategy through my firm Cronk Advisory. I work with leadership, tech and sustainability teams across a blend of scale-ups, NGOs and corporates in often highly regulated and complex environments. My original background was a software engineer/computer scientist. Since then my career has featured a range of roles and different sectors (including Deloitte, an environmental consultancy, and a cybersecurity vendor). I'm now pretty adaptable and tend to look at the bigger picture, including holistic sustainability, risks and opportunities and the longer-term systemic picture.

Some of the frameworks I've co-created have taken on a life of their own. The Tech Carbon Standard is now referenced by the Green Web Foundation and UK Government. Which has led to a new broader beyond-carbon project called DIST stewarded by GWF. My GenAI governance architecture and sustainability / sleepwalking risks were published 18-24 months before most enterprises had started thinking about it. I coined the term "ecosystem architecture" back in 2017, five years before TOGAF, sorry I'll stop bragging I am actually very modest and humble, honest! I realised I'm as much a people person as a technologist and am proud of the amazing network of people I have built over my career, many have become close friends. Founded the Architect Tomorrow community and podcast in 2019 (when I was at Tanium, but it's now independent), which has grown to 12,000+ subscribers across platforms. It started as a way to get architects talking to each other about the bigger picture, and it continues to focus on the consequences and holistic sustainability challenges of architecture. Recognition I'm proud of: EMEA Top 5 Architecture Leader 2026 (Chief Architect Network). OpenUK New Year's Honours 2026. Presenting at HM Treasury Innovation Day on innovative yet sustainable AI and at many other events around the world. Outside work, I can often be found behind a camera or cycling. I've ridden from Land's End to John O'Groats twice (the length of Britain) and share a passion for nature and the outdoors with my family.
