About
I am a software engineer and former medtech CTO based in Poland. Through my own company, Piotr Bomba Engineering, I work remotely with healthcare and medtech teams.
What I do
- AI/LLM for healthcare: RAG, agents and MCP integrations that work on clinical and patient data.
- On-premise LLMs: models running on your own hardware (vLLM, Ollama) when patient data cannot leave the organisation. A proof of concept takes about 4 weeks.
- Healthcare app audit: a fixed 12-hour, read-only review of access rules, data flows, encryption, logging, key handling, backups and third-party SDKs, with a written report within 7 working days.
- Fractional CTO: architecture, technical hiring and delivery oversight for early-stage medtech teams.
Background
- CTO and co-founder of InBioSens (2020 to 2023): a hospital telepresence robot, a WebRTC telepresence system, and a ward-round voice app that used early LLMs to recognise drug and procedure names and create entries in a hospital EHR through FHIR and SOAP. Patent application PL440769A1.
- Associate Scientist at Hitachi Energy (2022 to 2026): software design for AI/ML, co-inventor of 5 patent applications and 1 registered EU design, trainer for teams deploying AI in factories.
- Most recent healthcare project: a cardiology telemonitoring app (Flutter, Firebase) with encrypted and pseudonymised patient data, now in a clinical trial.
- MRes in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering, University College London. MSc in Mechatronic Engineering, AGH University of Krakow.
- James Dyson Award 2024, national winner for Poland, with Kuuler, a startup I co-owned.
